We are looking for a nimble, detail‑oriented Project Engineer to support this mission.
Essential Duties- Plan for assigned divisions/systems.
- Manage design of water and sewer improvement projects (tanks, boosters, lift stations, WTP, WWTP, regulating vaults, etc.).
- Work with the hydraulic modeling team to evaluate and mitigate system‑wide challenges.
- Submit required permits and approvals; prepare and supervise permit applications.
- Coordinate and manage construction projects, including bidding, scheduling, and cost estimating; enforce contract requirements and perform construction administration.
- Work with consultants on necessary easements; negotiate and prepare property easements and oversee surveys and legal recordings.
- Manage project financials (work orders, purchase orders, invoicing).
- Collaborate with various departments statewide: operations, engineering, accounting, customer service.
- Conduct due diligence for possible new acquisitions.
- Assist with other tasks or projects as assigned.
- Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering (required).
- Registered Professional Engineer in Illinois or ability to obtain PE license within three years from hire date.
- Two or more years of experience in water and wastewater is preferred.
- Computer literate and proficient with Microsoft Office and other business software.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills; communicate clearly, concisely, and professionally with internal customers.
- Strong customer service skills.
- Ability to work well under pressure and on multiple projects simultaneously, adapting to changing priorities in a fast‑paced environment.
- Team player able to work effectively in a multi‑tasking environment.
- Perform sedentary work, exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, and/or a negligible amount of force frequently to lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects. Sedentary work involves sitting most of the time.
- Working conditions may include travel to essential utilities work sites within the State of Illinois.
Hiring Salary Range: $81,975.36 – $
