The Food Service Assistant performs duties related to food service in a care setting, including food safety, customer service, and sanitation, while complying with HACCP guidelines and maintaining quality standards.

• Monitor and record proper temperatures of food and ensure safe handling.
• Set up and maintain a clean and sanitized serving area.
• Prepare and serve food items; restock food areas as needed.
• Wash dishware and clean/sanitize equipment; receive and stock supplies.
• Operate equipment such as grills, beverage machines, toasters, ice cream dispensers, steam equipment, dishwashers, telephones, refrigerators, and freezers as required.
• Provide outstanding customer service and communicate effectively with patrons and co-workers.
• Demonstrate ability to establish effective working relationships and maintain quality control standards.
• Possess the ability to work independently when necessary and stand for extended periods.

• Minimum of 16 years of age.
• Previous customer service experience; retail counting and reconciliation of money and knowledge of food service preferred.
• Ability to read, write and follow oral and written directions; basic math skills.
• On-the-job training will be provided.
• Serv Safe may be required to obtain within a designated time frame, depending on location.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) may be required depending on location requirements.
