ABOUT THE OPPORTUNITY

Within the Wind River Cloud team, we work with large-scale projects like Kubernetes, Docker, Open Stack, and fast-paced open-source technologies that are central to our products. We are seeking a versatile and high-performing Cloud Developer who thrives in agile environments and brings deep expertise in software engineering, Linux systems, and cloud-native development.
You will contribute to Wind River’s leadership in the Starling

X open-source project, helping build and maintain infrastructure for highly distributed edge solutions—including 5G, autonomous vehicles, and industrial automation.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

• Develop software for a complete cloud infrastructure software stack

• Design and implement high-quality code based on Kubernetes, containerized applications, and distributed cloud systems

• Apply Test-Driven Development (TDD) practices to ensure robust and maintainable code

• Work with open-source technologies including Kubernetes, Open Stack, Kube Virt, Helm, Ansible, Puppet, and OSTree

• Contribute to platform upgrade features and CI/CD pipelines

• Stay current with Open Stack advancements and integrate them into the platform

• Participate in agile development processes, with the ability to shift between development, testing, and automation roles as needed

• Investigate and resolve issues during product verification and customer integration

• Use Linux and shell scripting for day-to-day development and operations

• Work with open-source software responsibly, including understanding licensing models and managing CVEs

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

• Bachelor’s or master’s degree in computer science or related field

• 3+ years of professional software development experience

• 2+ years of programming experience with Python

• Experience with Linux systems and shell scripting

• 2+ years professional experience testing and deploying software utilizing Kubernetes, Docker, and Helm

• 2+ years of experience working as part of cross-functional Agile SCRUM Teams

• Experience building infrastructure software for scalable, distributed systems

• Strong sense of ownership, urgency, and drive

• Excellent analytical, debugging, and communication skills

• Professional experience working as part of globally-dispersed engineering teams

DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS

• Proven ability through professional experience to quickly adapt and independently learn new technologies and apply them to deliver results
