Joining the Diesel Service Attendant role at CPKC

Purpose of the positionAs a Diesel Service Attendant, you will keep locomotives moving. You’ll fuel, clean, test, and perform basic repairs on locomotives in a fast‑paced, safety‑driven environment that meets strict regulatory standards.
Position accountabilities- Refuel and sand locomotives while ensuring cab amenities are stocked for crew comfort.
- Inspect and perform basic repairs on locomotives, fuel tanks, and cab equipment to maintain operational reliability.
- Assess parts for reuse or replacement, supporting cost‑effective maintenance practices.
- Clean and service locomotive cabs, including walls, floors, windows, and toilets, to uphold safety and hygiene standards.
- Test cab electrical systems and safety devices, set up cab brakes per operational requirements, and complete all crew-to‑crew documentation.
- Perform additional duties as outlined in the collective agreement.
- High school diploma or general equivalency.
- Valid driver’s license.
- Minimum 1 year experience working around heavy equipment.
- Commercial driver’s license preferred.
- Available to work all types of shifts, including nights, weekends and holidays in all weather conditions.
- Ability to pass the required written examinations and understand safety instructions, rules, regulations and other material in English.

This is a safety‑sensitive position and a successful pre‑employment medical assessment, including physical, vision, hearing, and a negative drug test, is required. Post‑hire qualification drug testing may also be required.
