Skilled Labourer – Site Wide Services Construction Project

Location:

Highland Valley Copper Mine Site, near Logan Lake, BC
Job Type: Full-Time

Schedule:

14 days on / 7 days off, 10-hour shifts

About the Role

We are seeking reliable, safety-focused Skilled Labourers to join our Site Wide Services team at Highland Valley Copper. This multi-year construction project is expected to run through the end of 2027. As a key member of the team, you will be responsible for a variety of site-wide labour support tasks, including material deliveries, operating compaction equipment (packers), assisting with trailer setups and clean-ups, general site housekeeping, and supporting traffic control activities.

This is a dynamic role ideal for individuals who take pride in versatility, teamwork, and contributing to a safe and productive work environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform daily labourer duties to support construction and site services teams.
  • Complete a wide variety of tasks including (but not limited to):
    Snow shoveling and general site cleanup, back filling utilities, operating hand compaction tools (plate packers, jumping jacks), operating hand and power tools, installing TVs, whiteboards, coat hangers, and similar fixtures, leveling and adjusting doors and delivering tools, materials, and supplies to various site locations.
  • Safely operate packers and other light equipment as required for site preparation and maintenance.
  • Assist with trailer setups, teardowns, and cleaning duties.
  • Safely and effectively operate heavy equipment including loaders with various attachments, 30–45 tonne articulated rock trucks to support utility and civil construction activities.
  • Support traffic control activities in coordination with site supervisors and safety teams.
  • Maintain clean and organized work areas, trailers, and laydown yards.
  • Assist trades and equipment operators with general tasks as required.
  • Conduct pre-use inspections of tools and equipment, report hazards or maintenance needs.
  • Follow all site safety regulations, procedures, and policies at all times.
  • Adapt to changing priorities and work in varying weather and site conditions.
  • Support site-wide services such as road maintenance, laydown organization, snow removal, and environmental controls.
  • Assist with the safe loading, unloading, tracking, and handling of construction materials, tools, and equipment.
  • Communicate proactively with supervisors and teammates to ensure smooth daily operations.
  • Identify opportunities for continuous improvement related to safety, efficiency, and workflow.
  • Perform other duties as required to support project success and client expectations.
Qualifications & Experience
  • Minimum 2–5 years of construction or industrial labour experience.
  • Experience with general site labour tasks and use of hand tools and light equipment.
  • Traffic Control certification (or willingness to obtain) is an asset.
  • Physically fit and capable of performing physically demanding work for 10-hour shifts.
  • Demonstrated commitment to safety and hazard awareness in the workplace.
  • Reliable transportation to shuttle pick-up locations in Kamloops or Merritt.
  • Team-oriented, dependable, and willing to take direction in a fast-paced environment.
Preferred Assets
  • Experience operating compactors, skid steers, or other light construction equipment.
  • Valid Traffic Control certification (e.g., BC Flagging ticket).
  • Additional safety training such as WHMIS, First Aid, or Ground Disturbance.
  • Previous work experience on mine sites or in industrial construction environments.
  • Experience in industrial warehousing, receiving, inventory control, or materials management.
  • Valid Class 5 Drivers Licence.
  • Previous experience with fueling mobile and fixed equipment.

    Schedule:

    14 days on / 7 days off, 10-hour shifts.
  • Shuttle Service Provided:
    Transportation to and from the Highland Valley Copper mine site will be available from Kamloops and Merritt.
  • No camp accommodations or LOA provided.
  • Only local candidates or those willing to commute to shuttle pick-up points will be considered.
