Seasonal Forklift OperatorWe currently have an opportunity for a Seasonal Forklift Operator at our Merritt facility. We offer on‑the‑job training in a friendly, team‑minded environment. In the yard, Forklift Operators are cross‑trained in servicing the production departments, yard organization, and loading trucks for product shipment. Other duties in the yard may include operating a skid‑steer or front‑end loader for assisting with snow removal or managing aggregate bins as needed.
WorkSchedule
This is a seasonal position. Work hours are typically 8‑hour shifts, Monday to Friday with Saturdays as required to support production. Schedules range from 6:00 am to 4:30 pm with forklift operators needing to be flexible and work overtime to meet production demands and loading trucks in the yard.

Required Skills and Experience- Prior forklift or mobile equipment experience is a strong asset.
- Must be able to visually identify product by type and color, read labels, and order pick lists for loading trucks.
- Strong safety ethic in operating in a high‑traffic yard, completing pre‑trip inspections, identifying equipment issues, wearing required PPE and seatbelt, and following yard traffic rules.
- Care for handling equipment and product is crucial to maintaining a steady flow from production to the customer.
- This role has direct contact with both Barkman team members and customers entering the yard; therefore a professional, safety‑minded, friendly, customer‑focused attitude is key.
- Teamwork, problem solving, and a continuous improvement mindset.
- Flexibility in working various shifts to cover production demand, dock times, and covering for when other team members have scheduled time off work.
Physical activities include walking, standing, kneeling, bending, lifting (up to 50 lbs), reaching, using arms/hands to operate equipment, changing attachments, assisting with tying down loads, moving pallets, shoveling, etc.
Training and SafetyBarkman provides mobile equipment training for forklift, skid‑steer and front‑end loader as per safety regulations. All operators are expected to follow safe operating procedures at all times.
