Position SummaryA New Tomorrow supports both adult and youth divisions of practice to deliver exceptional treatment services to individuals recovering from substance misuse with an interdisciplinary team dedicated to transforming lives.
Reporting to the Lead Addictions Worker & Manager of Support Services, the Addictions Worker is responsible for collaborating on assessments including intake and implementation of service users care plan. The Addictions Worker is to engage in therapeutic practices within the scope of practice and ensure all practice standards are met. This position is responsible for the duties listed below:
Client-Centered Care- Collaborate on client assessments during intake, throughout treatment, and upon graduation.
- Deliver programming, activities, and wellness initiatives for clients; support psycho‑ed groups.
- Promote a client-centered, strength-based, trauma-informed, holistic approach.
- Communicate and uphold client care plans, Policies and Procedures, and daily routines.
- Stay informed about service users’ medications and communicate with co‑workers; administer medications following the 10 rights and 3 checks of medication administration.
- Provide detailed client documentation adhering to Accreditation and Licensing standards.
- Participate in client-centered team meetings and case conferences.
- Provide direct client support and advocacy during high conflict situations & respond to medical emergencies.
- Maintain & review client records, intake details, daily logs, care plans and discharge summaries.
- Build trust, open communication, and innovative strategies for clients and team members.
- Encourage client participation in recreational activities and culturally sensitive programming, as well as building recovery capital.
- Support and advocate for service users in utilizing clinical services and achieving treatment goals.
- Contribute to facility cleanliness, meal & snack preparation; ensure safety measures are upheld, report hazards, and participate in safety drills and inspections.
- Adhere to ANT Client-Centered, Human Resources & Medication related Policies and Procedures.
- Other duties as assigned.
- Ensure clear and effective communication fostering positive work culture.
- Maintain confidentiality in accordance with the Personal Information Act of BC and BC.
- Participate in problem solving and conflict resolution with objectivity promoting the autonomy and growth of the team.
- Stay open to reflecting, debriefing, and processing distressing events or vicarious trauma.
- Exhibit continuous learning to enhance existing skills and develop competencies.
- Participate in orientation, training, and development, and be open and receptive to coaching, mentoring, and feedback as required.
- Engage in team building activities fostering positive and effective communication.
- Attend regular meetings identifying requirements, areas of success, areas of need/improvement, and trends impacting service delivery.
Skills and Qualifications
- Completion of Grade 12
- Experience working with clients in addiction, mental health, and recovery an asset
- Good administrative, time management, and organizational skills
- Current Class 5 Driver’s License
- Current First Aid & CPR with AED certification
- WHIMS certification
- Addictions Care and Treatment Online certification
- Self-motivated and capacity to work independently
- Competent with Microsoft Office
- Criminal Record Check prior to commencement of employment
