Community Support Worker - PT

Community Living Services Part Time Kamloops, BC $25.95 - $29.76 CAD per hour

Make a difference every day. As a Community Support Worker, you’ll help individuals with diverse abilities build independence, connect with their community, and live fulfilling lives.

Key Responsibilities:

• Support daily life skills, recreation, and social connections
• Encourage health, well‑being, and personal growth
• Create and follow person‑centered support plans
• Connect clients to community resources and opportunities
• Assist with errands, meals, household tasks, and transportation
• Provide personal care with respect and dignity
• Extended health, dental, vision, paramedical services, life insurance, and EFAP after probation
• 3 weeks’ vacation after 1 year, increasing with seniority
• Regular wage increases based on hours worked (up to Step
  4)
• Priority consideration for internal job postings
• Paid training and professional development opportunities
• Community involvement and wellness activities
• Membership in the Municipal Pension Plan (MPP) for eligible employees
• Sick leave accrual: 1 day per month

• Community Support Certificate (or equivalent)
• At least one year of related experience, or a combination of education and training
• A combination of relevant education, training, and hands‑on experience.
• Support and engage individuals with diverse abilities
• Plan and facilitate recreational and life skills activities
• Provide personal care with dignity and respect
• Respond to challenging behaviors and crises with effective interventions
• Work independently and collaboratively as part of a team
• Strong problem‑solving, conflict resolution, and communication skills
• Accurate documentation and reporting
• Build positive relationships with clients, families, and professionals
• Deliver person‑centered services with professionalism and creativity

Other Musts
:

• Valid BC Class 5 Driver’s License and safe driving record
• Own vehicle with business use and $5M third‑party liability insurance (premium reimbursement provided)
• Willingness and physical ability to support individuals with personal care and recreational activities, indoors and outdoors
• Completion of required training (provided at no cost); existing certifications are an asset: CPR‑C, Mandt‑R, SafeTALK, Safe Food Handling, Medication Management, CLBC Privacy, Abuse and Neglect Awareness training, Anti‑Bullying & Harassment
• Consent to Criminal Record Check with vulnerable sector search (cost reimbursed upon hire)
• Union membership (1.8% dues deducted from pay)

COMPENSATION: $25.95 - $29.76 per hour (Grid 10 as per collective agreement)
