Temporary – anticipated 70 hours bi-weekly to December 2026

Social Program Officer (Growth to R24) / Position starts at $39.30 to $41.65 hourly

Kelowna (hybrid – 3 days per week in office after passing a 6-month probation)

About the opportunity

As a Facilitator at CLBC, you’ll be the trusted first point of contact for individuals with developmental disabilities and their families. In this role, you’ll work closely with them to uncover their unique needs, strengths, and aspirations – helping to turn goals into meaningful opportunities. Your support empowers individuals to build on their assets and live a life that is both fulfilling and self-directed.

Responsibilities
  • Supporting and facilitating access to generic services, informal supports, and CLBC-funded services and allocation of small targeted amounts of funding
  • Assist the individual and their family in identifying the activities and resources required to reach their goals, by supporting the individual to explore their capacity and enhance their ability to make informed decisions
  • Providing information about informal community supports, generic services, CLBC services, and peer and family support services available
  • Collaborating with other service providers to assist the individual in responding to crises and resolving problems
  • Coordinating services
  • Creating and implementing individual support plans, which include informal and formal safeguards
  • Assist individuals and families in connecting to their community to build on the strengths and assets of the individual
  • Confirming eligibility for CLBC-funded services
What you will bring
  • Preference will be given to candidates with a Bachelor of Social Work or an equivalent degree
  • Experience working in the Community Living field with children, youth or adults with developmental disabilities and their families
  • An equivalent combination of relevant education/experience may be considered

  • Strong verbal and written ability to connect effectively with individuals and families
  • Collaborative planning ability to partner with individuals and their support circle to create meaningful, person‑centred plans
  • Ability to apply critical thinking and sound judgment to develop and implement effective solutions
  • Person‑centred approach to ensure the individual’s voice is central in all decisions
  • Ability to foster positive, productive relationships with individuals, families, and community partners
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and deliver results within deadlines
  • Creative & flexible thinking while working within a policy framework to identify support options tailored to individual needs
Additional Info
  • Possession of a class 5 driver’s license and a clean driver’s abstract are required.
