Job Description
American Traveler is seeking an experienced Speech Language Pathologist for an inpatient role requiring 3+ years of acute care experience and BLS certification.
Responsibilities- Work in an inpatient hospital setting covering all adult units including Med Surg, PCU, and ICU
- Provide care for general medical patients, head and neck cancers, neurogenic, pulmonary, GI, cognitive, speech, language, and swallowing disorders
- Average daily caseload is 9 patients per SLP
- Perform evaluations and treatments for swallowing, cognition, speech, and language
- Shifts are 9 hours, with a schedule typically including Friday through Monday and occasional additional days
- Weekend rotation is required
- Floating to ICU, PCU, ACU, and 2nd surgical units as needed
- No on-call requirements
- Meditech EMR is used for documentation
- Orientation includes New Employee Orientation and 1-3 days with a preceptor depending on experience
- Small unit environment with an expectation of strong teamwork
- Support available from management, PTs, and other SLPs
- Scrubs may be any solid color
- Holiday coverage is determined based on unit needs
- Requests for time off must be approved by the manager
- Free parking is provided
- First-time travelers may be considered if they meet the experience requirements
- At least 3 years of experience as a medical SLP in an acute care setting
- Current BLS certification
- MBSiMP and MBSS certifications required
- Proven ability to manage high acuity and medically complex cases
- ICU experience required
- License required if applicable
