Licensed Structural Engineer at Jackola Engineering & Architecture, PC – Kalispell, MT
We are seeking a licensed Structural Engineer to join our full‑service design team and work on diverse high‑profile projects such as office buildings, schools, multifamily residences, hotels, restaurants, banks, and retail spaces.
Role Duties- Independently lead structural design staff throughout the project design and construction phases.
- Identify and solve problems with a goal to provide appropriate and constructable solutions.
- Work in a multi‑discipline team environment to manage the development, design, and implementation of structural concepts, systems, drawings, and specifications.
- Coordinate with external suppliers, internal design teams, and manufacturers.
- Ensure structural designs meet company quality standards.
- Use various software packages to calculate gravity, lateral, and foundation loads.
- Respond to contractors during construction.
- At least 4 years of experience post‑graduation from an accredited university.
- Structural Professional Engineer (PE) License. (SE designation a plus, but not required)
- 5+ years relevant design experience with building structural systems using wood, steel, concrete, and masonry.
- A strong understanding of building codes and value engineering practices.
- Organized and able to handle multiple tasks at a time.
- Self‑starter who can work independently and be part of a team.
- Outstanding organization, attentiveness to detail and excellent written and oral communication skills.
- Work independently, managing priorities and providing mentorship to junior staff.
- Ability to prioritize strategically and demonstrate flexibility to achieve long‑range goals.
- Proficiency with MS Office, Blue Beam, Autodesk Revit, and industry‑standard structural design software (preferably – Enercalc, RISA 3D, Forte or equivalent, Woodworks Sizer, and Profis or equivalent).
- Graduated from an accredited university with a degree in structural engineering or related discipline.
- Minimum of 5 years of design experience in building structural systems.
- Valid PE license; SE designation a plus.
- Proficiency in structural analysis software and BIM tools.
- Strong grasp of building codes, performance‑based design, and value‑engineering.
- Excellent communication, organizational, and leadership skills.
