Job Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Med/Surg position in Michigan requiring a MI RN license and strong post-surgical competencies.

• Hospital-based Medical Surgical unit
• Night shifts, 3x12-hour schedule (19:00–7:30)
• Float required to other Med/Surg, ICU, and ED waiting areas to care for Med/Surg patients as needed
• Patient ratio is typically 1:6 and may flex higher with support staff assistance
• No call requirement
• Weekend work required every other weekend
• Holidays are required
• Duties include colostomy care, feeding tube management, pre/post hemodialysis management, port access, blood product administration, peripheral and PICC line management, and post-surgical drain/chest tube care
• Must be able to perform non-invasive airway management, tracheostomy management, and oxygen therapy with various devices
• Expected to handle isolation precautions and wound vac management
• First-time travelers will be considered
• Support staff available during high patient ratios

• Active Michigan RN license required
• Minimum 1.5 years of recent experience in Med/Surg or PCU
• BLS (AHA) and NIHSS certifications required
• Proficiency with telemetry and remote monitoring
• Strong post-surgical care skills required
• Experience with IV starts, wound care, and various acute care procedures
