Job Description
American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Med/Surg night shift position specializing in neurological and post-surgical patient care, requiring a Michigan RN license.
Responsibilities- Work on a 40-bed Med/Surg unit with a neurological focus
- Care for patients with stroke, epilepsy, multiple sclerosis, spinal surgery, and other neuro and post-operative conditions
- Includes step-down/telemetry and bariatric beds as well as a dedicated neuro monitoring area for seizure patients starting at age 5
- Night shift schedule is 3x12 hours from 19:00 to 7:30
- Every other weekend is required
- Patient ratios average 1:5-6 on nights, with adjusted charge responsibilities based on staff levels
- May float to other Med/Surg units, ICU units, and ED waiting rooms
- Uses Epic EMR and Pyxis medication management system
- Provide comprehensive care to a diverse neurological and post-surgical patient population
- Team consists of RNs with varying patient assignments depending on staffing levels
- Unit includes specialized care for seizure monitoring and bariatric patients
- Opportunity to work across multiple units as needed
- Charge nurse role adjusts based on staffing ratios
- Active Michigan RN license required
- Current BLS certification (AHA) required
- NIHSS certification required or willingness to obtain prior to start
- Preferred 1-2 years of Med/Surg nursing experience
