Job Description

American Traveler is seeking a Med/Surg RN with Michigan licensure and experience in neurological and post-operative care for a night shift opportunity.

Responsibilities

• Work on a 40-bed medical surgical unit specializing in neurological disorders and post-operative spinal surgery patients

• Includes six step-down/telemetry beds, six bariatric beds, and a four-bed Neuro Monitoring Unit caring for patients age 5 and older

• Night shift position with 4x12 hour shifts from 19:00 to 07:30

• RN patient ratios range from 1:5-6, with adjusted assignments based on staffing levels

• No LPN coverage during nights; charge nurse assignments vary depending on unit staffing

• Weekend shifts required every other weekend

• Floating may be required to other Med/Surg units, ICU units, and Emergency Department waiting rooms

• Uses Epic for documentation and Pyxis for medication management

• Provide care for patients with conditions including stroke, epilepsy, multiple sclerosis, and complex post-operative needs

• Patient assignments may include step-down, bariatric, and seizure monitoring cases

• No requested time off allowed during the first two weeks of the assignment

• Opportunities for experience with diverse neuro and post-surgical patient populations

• Shifts and weekly hours (36 or 48 hours) are available with preference considered

Requirements

• Active Michigan RN license required

• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through AHA required

• NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification required; candidates may obtain certification prior to start if not already held

• Preferred 1-2 years of recent Med/Surg experience
