Job Description
American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Stepdown position with oncology and medical stepdown patient care requiring ONCC or ONS certification.
Responsibilities
• Work in a hospital stepdown unit primarily serving general medicine and oncology stepdown patients
• Typical nurse-to-patient ratio is 1:4-6, with adjustments for chemotherapy admissions
• Uses Welch Allyn vital sign towers and Sigma IV pumps
• Epic is used for documentation
• Shift schedule is Day (3x12 hours), 7:00-19:30
• Every other weekend required
• No on-call responsibilities
• May float to other med-surg areas, including AU and ER, to care for med-surg patients
• Block scheduling may be accommodated upon request
• Support staff available if ratios flex higher; charge RN usually not in patient assignment
• Must be available for the first two weeks of the assignment
• Weekend assignments are managed by the manager or scheduler, with self-scheduling available for other days
• Any requests for time off after an offer must be discussed with the onsite manager
• Chemotherapy admissions will decrease the nurse’s assignment ratio
Requirements
• Active Michigan RN license in hand
• Current ONCC or ONS certification in hand
• Current BLS (AHA) and NIH certifications
• At least 2 years of recent Progressive Care Unit (PCU) or stepdown experience
• Experience administering chemotherapy via IV and starting IVs
