Beacon Kalamazoo provides 24/7 emergency care and a Level II Trauma Center. We deliver care for serious life‑threatening injuries/illnesses, and your everyday health needs, including labor and delivery. We offer specialty care for heart/vascular disease, lung and sleep disorders, mental health conditions, and women’s health. We provide a wide range of outpatient services, including diagnostic imaging, lab tests, respiratory therapy and rehabilitation therapy services.
WhatYou’ll Do
As a Neuro/Ortho Unit Registered Nurse, you will provide direct nursing care in accordance with established policies, procedures and protocols of the healthcare organization.
Registered NurseJob Responsibilities
- Implements and monitors patient care plans. Monitors, records and communicates patient condition as appropriate.
- Serves as a primary coordinator of all disciplines for well‑coordinated patient care.
- Assesses and coordinates patient’s discharge planning needs with members of the healthcare team.
- In collaboration with the patient and/or family, and healthcare team, participates in open discussion to identify mutual goals based on the nursing assessment and nursing diagnosis.
- Diagnoses, treats and evaluates the human response to actual or potential health problems/needs.
- Assess, detect, monitor and attempt to prevent complications associated with health situations or treatment plans.
- Notifies the physician of patient condition and response to nursing intervention appropriately and documents this action.
- Insures that patient pain is assessed, treated, reassessed, documented and evaluated. Adheres to policies and procedures for pain management.
- Delegates to other licensed and unlicensed care providers based on clinical nursing judgment and skill of the care provider.
As a Registered Nurse, you’ll bring a high level of knowledge and competency in performing nursing care procedures, assessments, treatment, and techniques. Your advanced analytical skills are necessary to solve complex problems and make decisions related to patient care. You demonstrate the interpersonal skills necessary to establish and maintain effective working relationships with staff, patients, visitors, physicians, and others. You communicate, both verbally and in writing, in a clear and concise manner.
You understand the need to be responsive and reasonably adaptable for scheduling purposes, when necessary, due to extenuating circumstances in support of co‑workers and department functions.
- BLS Provider obtained within 1 Month (30 days) of hire date or job transfer date. American Heart Association or American Red Cross accepted.
- Registered Nurse credentialed from the Michigan Board of Nursing obtained within 3 Months (90 days) of hire date or job transfer date.
- Associates of Applied Science in Nursing (AAS) Degree or Bachelors of Science in Nursing (BSN) or RN Diploma at start date.
- BSN is required within six (6) years of start date.
