Stepdown/Oncology Med-Surg population
Nurse-to-Patient Ratio:

1:4–6 (typically 1:5)
Beds:

Adult & Geriatric patients
Common diagnoses:
Sepsis, renal failure, respiratory failure, cancer, heart failure, DKA, diabetes
Chemotherapy admissions reduce assignment ratios
Strong support staff (RT, PT, Pharmacy, Rapid Response, Phlebotomy, Unit Secretary)

Welch Allyn vital sign towers, Sigma IV pumps, BiPAP/CPAP
Requirements (HARD STOPS)
Active Michigan RN License (in hand)
2 years PCU/Stepdown experience required
ONCC or ONS certification – MUST BE IN HAND
BLS (AHA) & NIHSS required
Strong skills in

IV starts and chemotherapy administration
Proof of

Flu vaccination

required (medical exemptions only)
References required
