Biblical Qualifications

- Demonstrate a gift in building relationships and fostering a healthy community within the church, primarily using self as a model.
- Display leadership qualities and skills, such as encouragement, providing counsel, envisioning, and gently challenging.
- Demonstrate management skills to identify, prioritize, and implement pastoral and administrative responsibilities.
- Develop a positive and trusting personal relationship with our youth, with a focus on encouraging them to:
- Grow in their personal relationship with God through consistent Bible study and daily prayers
- Accept Jesus as their personal Lord and Savior, making a lifetime commitment to His service
- Practice Christian living and service in their daily lives
- Assist our Senior Pastor in planning and conducting regularly scheduled profession of faith classes.
- Organize and lead, with the assistance of other church members, regularly scheduled Youth Group meetings for Bible study and social activities.
- Organize and lead, with the assistance of other church members, outreach projects to emphasize and instill the need for Christian service.
- Seek to be aware of personal needs through the development of personal relationships.
- Maintain and enhance a positive and trusting personal relationship with our young adults, with a focus on encouraging them to:
- Develop and utilize their God‑given gifts in various church ministries and committees, and participate in Young Adult Bible study and social activities.
- Organize and lead, with the assistance of other church members, regularly scheduled Youth Adult meetings for Bible study and social activities.
- Organize and lead, with the assistance of other church members, outreach projects to emphasize and instill the need for Christian service.
- Maintain contact and provide spiritual encouragement for college students and members of the military living or stationed away from home.
- Seek to be aware of personal needs through the development of personal relationships.
- Work alongside our Senior Pastor, Elders, and Deacons to shepherd the flock at Second CRC.
- Foster and develop relationships with all congregational members.
- Work alongside our Senior Pastor and Elders to provide compassion and counsel to those who are experiencing difficult spiritual, personal, or family‑related issues.
- Work alongside our Senior Pastor and Elders to provide compassion and support to those who are sick, shut‑in, or elderly, to those who are grieving and to those who are dying.
- Conduct at a minimum one worship service per month as directed by our Senior Pastor and Elders.
- Lead Bible study lessons for our Youth Group and Young Adults.
- Teach an occasional Sunday School or Catechism class.
- Teach profession of faith classes.
- Serve on our Evangelism Committee, taking an active role in our mission outreach within the community, nationally, and worldwide.
- Serve on other committees as requested/appointed by Council.
- Attend and participate in all Council and Elder meetings.
- Attend and participate in all staff meetings.
- Prepare a detailed Associate Pastor’s Report for all Council and Elder meetings in a timely manner.
- Submit expense reports and supporting documentation in a timely manner.
- Inform Church Secretary of any bulletin announcements concerning our youth or young adults, or pastoral care concerns in a timely manner.
Reporting and Goal Setting
- Our Associate Pastor reports directly to our Consistory, who is responsible for establishing goals in assessment.
