Buyer - Manistee Area

Salary Range: $53,000 - $80,000 depending on experience

• Source and procure raw materials, components, and MRO supplies.
• Negotiate prices, terms, and delivery schedules with suppliers to achieve cost savings and optimal value.
• Manage supplier relationships, performance, and compliance with quality and delivery standards.
• Monitor inventory levels and material requirements to prevent stockouts and minimize excess inventory.
• Collaborate with production, engineering, and quality teams to ensure material availability and specifications.
• Analyze market trends and supplier capabilities to identify potential risks and cost reduction opportunities.
• Process purchase orders, manage order acknowledgements, and resolve discrepancies.
• Identify and qualify new suppliers to enhance the supply base and improve resilience.

• 2+ years of direct purchasing experience in a manufacturing environment.
• Proficiency with ERP/MRP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle, Net Suite) for procurement.
• Strong negotiation and supplier relationship management skills.
• Ability to interpret technical specifications, blueprints, or engineering drawings.
• Demonstrated ability to achieve cost savings and optimize inventory levels.

• Advanced proficiency with multiple ERP/MRP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle, Infor)
• Familiarity with Lean Manufacturing principles or Six Sigma methodologies
• Experience with international sourcing, logistics, and customs regulations
• Demonstrated project management skills, particularly in new product introduction (NPI) or supplier transitions
