Salary Range: $59,000 - $91,000 depending on experience

The Opportunity

Key Responsibilities
- Design, build, and modify precision tools, dies, jigs, and fixtures according to specifications.
- Perform maintenance, repair, and troubleshooting on existing tooling to ensure optimal performance.
- Operate a variety of machine tools including lathes, mills, grinders, and EDM machines to fabricate components.
- Interpret complex blueprints, schematics, and technical drawings to determine dimensions and tolerances.
- Utilize precision measuring instruments such as micrometers, calipers, and gauges for quality control.
- Collaborate with engineering and production teams to resolve tooling issues and improve manufacturing processes.
- Adhere to all safety protocols and quality standards during tool fabrication and maintenance.
Recommended Qualifications
- Completion of a recognized Tool Maker apprenticeship program or equivalent vocational training.
- 5+ years of hands‑on experience in precision machining, including milling, turning, grinding, and EDM.
- Proficiency in reading and interpreting complex blueprints, technical drawings, and Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T).
- Expertise in using a wide range of precision measurement tools (micrometers, calipers, gauges, optical comparators).
- Strong knowledge of various tooling materials, heat treatment processes, and their applications.
- Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot, diagnose, and repair complex tooling and die issues.
Bonus Qualifications
- CAD/CAM software proficiency (e.g., Solid Works, Mastercam)
- Experience with advanced metrology equipment (e.g., CMM, optical comparator)
- Practical experience with welding and fabrication techniques (e.g., TIG, MIG)
- Knowledge of heat treatment processes for various tool steels
- Experience with additive manufacturing (3D printing) for prototyping or fixtures
