Position Details

Full-time – 2nd shift:
Monday‑Thursday 3:30 PM – 2:00 AM

Pay Range: depending on experience, training and education; additional bonuses available.

Summary

The CNC Setup position is responsible for the set‑up, operation, and adjustment of CNC equipment.

Essential Functions
  • Set up, operate, and adjust controls on CNC in accordance with specifications, production drawings, procedures, and oral instructions.
  • Observe machine operation to detect workpiece defects or machine malfunctions, adjusting machines as necessary.
  • Inspect work pieces for defects and measure work pieces to determine accuracy of machine operation, using calipers, micrometers, dial indicators, and height gauges.
  • Monitor gauges, dials, or other indicators to ensure a machine is working properly.
  • Assist with training machine operators to ensure product meets customer requirements.
  • Participate in daily rota‑cube meetings with setup teams.
  • Respond promptly to downtime messaging.
  • Improve the overall setup process to reduce downtimes and enhance first‑time right metrics.
  • Perform minor CNC program edits as required.
  • Act as quality assurance for the fabrication department.
  • Assist in training final inspection personnel and perform final inspections of parts as needed, seeking a result of ‘nominal’ (not just ‘to print’).
  • Examine documents, materials, and products to monitor work processes and assess completeness, accuracy, and conformance to standards and specifications.
  • Record production data including volume produced, consumption of raw materials, and location of materials.

POSITION QUALIFICATIONS EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
  • Minimum of 1‑2 years of experience in CNC setup, or related experience (required).
  • Prior Haas, Mazak, and Fanuc control experience (required).
  • Certificate and/or training from a technical school with a focus in CNC (preferred).
SKILLS AND ABILITIES
  • Familiarity with reading G‑Code.
  • Working ability to read blueprints and a general understanding of GD&T.
