Insight Global is seeking a full-time Quality Manager to support our client in advanced materials manufacturing at their Kalamazoo, MI facility. This role will oversee QA/QC operations for the KM & APC2 polymer manufacturing site, working closely with the QC Lab and production teams to ensure lab equipment is properly maintained, technicians are well-trained, and quality/instrumentation issues are resolved efficiently. The ideal candidate is a hands-on leader who thrives in fast-paced environments, actively engages in root cause analyses (e.g., FOD investigations), and collaborates with production to implement solutions without disrupting operations.
Responsibilities include improving quality systems and culture, monitoring key metrics, supporting customer and internal team interactions, and participating in HAZOPS and incident investigations as needed—all while maintaining strict adherence to safety protocols.
Must-Haves:
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in a laboratory and industrial setting, preferably within a petrochemical or chemical manufacturing environment.
- Strong working knowledge of polymers and laboratory techniques, including melt flow index testing, gas chromatography (GC), and atomic absorption spectroscopy (AA).
- Proven leadership experience, ideally in a management or supervisory role.
- Familiarity with ISO 9001 standards.
- Solid understanding of laboratory equipment, procedures, and best practices.
Preferred Qualifications (Plusses):
- BS/MS in Chemical Engineering, Chemistry, or a related technical discipline.
- Background in polymer chemistry.
- Experience working in a unionized environment.
- Knowledge of AS9100 Quality Management Systems.
- Proficiency with SAP and LIMS (Laboratory Information Management Systems) used for batch release and lab data management.
- Exposure to Lean Manufacturing principles and Six Sigma methodologies (Green/Black Belt certification is a plus).
Compensation:
$100k to $130k per year annual salary.
Exact compensation may vary based on several factors, including skills, experience, and education.
