Position SummaryThe System Manager, Imaging Services (MRI) is responsible for planning, organizing, and overseeing operations across various diagnostic imaging areas, including Diagnostic X-ray, Nuclear Medicine, Ultrasound, Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI), Positron Emission Tomography (PET), Computer Tomography (CT), and Breast Imaging. This role supports inpatient facilities, Trauma and Emergency services, on-site outpatient care, and off-site outpatient locations.
Employees providing direct patient care must demonstrate competencies specific to the population served.
Key Responsibilities Operational & Strategic Leadership- Collaborate with the Director of Diagnostics to develop short- and long-term goals for Imaging Services.
- Oversee department budgets, policy development, and regulatory compliance, securing necessary approvals.
- Ensure seamless operations across multiple imaging modalities, supporting patient care excellence.
- Promote a collaborative team environment within Imaging Services and across the hospital.
- Hire, develop, and evaluate staff while fostering employee engagement, coaching, and professional growth.
- Demonstrate strong leadership, communication, and teamwork skills.
- Ensure compliance with MQSA, ACR, OSHA, DOT, EPA, DNREC, and JCAHO regulations.
- Maintain high patient safety standards, infection control protocols, and radiation safety practices.
- Use continuous improvement methods to address challenges in turnaround time, testing quality, and reporting accuracy.
- Work with Purchasing, Central Distribution, and vendors to maintain appropriate supplies and inventory levels.
- Oversee the preparation of departmental records, reports, and analyses to track progress toward goals.
- Demonstrate critical thinking, problem-solving, and independent judgment to manage multiple priorities efficiently.
- Licensure (One of the Following):
- The American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT)
- Registered Diagnostic Medical Sonographer (ARDMS)
- Nuclear Medicine Technology Certification Board
- Licensed Registered Nurse (RN) in the State of Michigan
- Education:
Bachelor's degree with a management focus (preferred). - Experience:
3-5 years of relevant experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Requires high levels of mental and visual focus, including tasks requiring detailed attention and sustained concentration.
- Work involves regular walking, standing, bending, and sitting, with occasional light lifting.
- Up to 70% of the time may involve working on a personal computer or other digital systems.
- Must demonstrate flexibility in staffing and adaptability to evolving patient care practices.
