Peer/Family Support Partner.
As a Peer/Family Support Partner you will be responsible for engaging with a diverse population of parents/caregivers of children and youth with mental health challenges and/or intellectual/developmental disabilities. As a Family Support Partner, you will help empower families to better advocate for their youth. You will address parent/caregiver issues such as isolation, grief, and lack of confidence in their skills as a parent/caregiver.
You will also collaborate with systems partners, and role model good communication and conflict management skills. You will also be responsible for maintaining paperwork in a timely fashion and adhering to the agency’s confidentiality and privacy policies. Must have good written and communication skills.
A high school diploma or GED with 2 years of work experience.
Lived experience as the parent/caregiver of a child or youth with behavioral health issues is required. Ability to attend a three-day training in Lansing.

Physical RequirementsPhysical Efforts – Job demands include prolonged sitting and standing as appropriate. May occasionally require light lifting up to 25 pounds, stooping, kneeling, crouching, or bending as appropriate. Requires coordination of hands and/or eye/hand/foot.
Working ConditionsOffice environment with noise from computers, copy machine, and telephones. Use of computer screen for periods in excess of 30 minutes at a time. Possible eyestrain from extended periods of viewing computer screen. May be exposed to blood borne pathogens, infectious diseases, and parasites. Travel throughout the Kalamazoo area is required.
