Design Engineer - Kalamazoo Area

Salary Range: $74,000 - $113,000 depending on experience

• Develop and optimize product designs for manufacturing efficiency and performance.
• Create detailed 3D models and 2D engineering drawings using CAD software.
• Select appropriate materials and manufacturing processes to meet design specifications.
• Conduct design analysis and simulations to validate product functionality and reliability.
• Collaborate with production, quality, and supply chain teams throughout the product lifecycle.
• Support prototyping, testing, and validation of new and revised designs.
• Generate and maintain comprehensive technical documentation, including BOMs and specifications.

• Proficiency in 3D CAD software (e.g., Solid Works, Inventor, Creo) for mechanical design and drafting.
• Strong understanding of mechanical engineering principles, including materials science, kinematics, and stress analysis.
• Deep knowledge of various manufacturing processes (e.g., machining, sheet metal, injection molding) and Design for Manufacturability (DFM).
• Proven ability to analyze complex design challenges and develop innovative, practical solutions.
• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or a closely related field.
• Experience with prototyping, testing, and validation of mechanical components and assemblies.

• Experience with FEA/CFD simulation software for design validation.
• Demonstrated experience with Design for Manufacturability (DFM) and Design for Assembly (DFA) principles.
• Proficiency in Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing (GD&T) per ASME Y14.5.
• Hands-on prototyping, testing, or assembly experience with manufactured components.
