Summary:
Flowserve is currently seeking a proactive and dedicated Intern for an on-site, part-time position at our Kalamazoo facility. This role is designed to be flexible, requiring approximately 15-20 hours of work each week, allowing for a personalized schedule. This is an excellent opportunity for a motivated individual looking to gain valuable hands‑on experience.
You will join our engineering team to provide engineering support for Gaspac testing. You will be exposed to a fast‑paced, highly rewarding environment incorporating aspects of Engineering, Manufacturing, and Operations, working with critical rotating equipment and industry leaders. You will be expected to provide engineering support for the test lab, provide technical, operational, and analytical assistance to verify product performance, troubleshoot failures, and ensure the testing environment is accurate and safe.
Responsibilities:- Bridge the gap between design engineering, manufacturing and operations to provide safe and successful testing of turbo machinery products.
- Collaborate with customers and project engineers on test plans and procedures to validate product functionality.
- Perform post-test seal inspection.
- Review and evaluate test data.
- Investigate test stand failures, participate in seal failure analysis, troubleshooting, root‑cause-analysis, and implementation of corrective actions.
- Utilize Nexus Engineering system to create final documentation packages for customer orders.
- Provide recommendations for design modifications to enhance future testability and efficiency.
- Enrolled in undergraduate degree program in Mechanical, Aeronautical, or Industrial Engineering.
- The ideal candidate will be within their 3rd or 4th year of education and have some experience in an industrial or manufacturing setting.
- Proficient skills in MS Office programs.
- Ability to read assembly and part detail drawings.
- Knowledge and understanding of 2D drafting and 3D modeling.
- Proficient utilizing basic hand tools.
- Knowledge and understanding in Solid Works experience.
- Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills.
- Show high attention to detail and possess good organizational skills.
- Promote a trusting team atmosphere and group collaboration through daily cadence.
- Have a desire to learn and promote self‑development.
