The Vehicle Mechatronic Embedded Controls (VMEC) Body Controls Vision & Visibility Agile Release Train (ART) delivers some of GM’s most customer-facing features across EV, ICE, and autonomous platforms. The Choreography team develops and maintains software that orchestrates key vehicle interactions, including walk‑up/walk‑away and charging choreography, enabling a seamless and engaging user experience.
As the Scrum Manager, you will lead Agile delivery for GM’s choreography software, serving as the content subject matter expert for the team and owning buy‑off reviews with Program Management and Design. You’ll collaborate closely with System Engineers, Design, Technical Specialists, Product Management, Calibration, and Validation teams to turn strategy into clear, testable stories.
You will drive end-to-end delivery—from backlog refinement to running virtual, bench and vehicle demos. Core to the role is ensuring technical integrity, quality, and alignment with program priorities. Your success in this role will depend on collaboration and clear communication with a diverse set of stakeholders.
What You’ll do:Agile Delivery & Backlog Leadership
Own and prioritize the team backlog, ensuring visibility, transparency, and shared understanding.
Translate features and product strategy into well-formed user stories with clear acceptance criteria enabling Behavioral Driven Development (BDD), Test Driven Development (TDD) and robust test planning at unit, integration, and system levels.
Verify stories are testable, align to Definition of Done (DoD), include persistent acceptance tests, and meet program quality standards.
Facilitate Scrum ceremonies; participate in Program Increment Planning, Iteration Reviews/Retrospectives, ART Inspect and Adapt events, and Scrum/ART syncs.
Coordinate dependencies across teams; align on enabler rollout with System Architects/Engineers and Technical Specialists.
Accept stories and participate in team demos/retros to validate quality and improve team processes.
Technical Leadership & QualityServe as Subject Matter Expert (SME) for choreography content, interfaces, and boundary conditions.
Ensure technical integrity of features; proactively address anomalies and quality concerns in a timely manner.
Provide guidance on system demonstration strategy during story creation (unit, integration, system level test strategy).
Support issue investigation and resolution stemming from reviews, test results, or field feedback.
Operate effectively within GM’s vehicle development process and evolving regulatory landscape including Economic Commission for Europe (ECE) requirements, partnering closely with Design on choreography intent.
Choreography Demo Ownership. (Virtual, Bench & Vehicle)Lead, plan, present, and coordinate buy‑off reviews with Program and Design for exterior and interior lighting choreography.
Own demo logistics:
Coordinate and secure hardware (vehicle/bench), vehicle scheduling, demo locations, hardware retrofits, and software flash programming.
Manage controller software archives and coordinate the software packages are on test properties.
Support virtual demos using Unreal Engine; collaborate on content fidelity, timing, and stakeholder readiness.
Partner with calibration/validation to develop and maintain benches and test plans; assure bench readiness, uptime and verify results align with story acceptance and PI objectives.
Coaching & CollaborationCoach team members on Agile practices to drive continuous improvement and enhance flow efficiency.
Work closely with the Scrum Leader to ascertain capacity, plan load, and optimize throughput.
Collaborate with Engineering Stakeholders, Product Management, Program Management and Design to align delivery with business goals and customer needs.
Participate in Scrum synchronizations and cross team working groups to manage dependencies and enabler rollout.
