Summary
:
This role is responsible for analyzing customer requirements, generating accurate cost estimates, and creating detailed quotations for products or projects. Must be able to collaborate with various teams, including sales, engineering, and procurement, to ensure quotes are technically sound, cost-effective, and aligned with customer needs and company capabilities.
Must have experience quoting DFM up to and including new product launch. This includes analyzing customer requirements, cycle time analysis, fixturing concepts, tooling requirements & design, machine and manpower requirements and assist with other technical issues that may arise before the start of production.
Depending on workloads, you may be required to complete fixture & tooling designs, oversee their construction (in house and outsourced), write and test CNC code, and process initial samples.
Key Responsibilities / Essential Functions Required- Minimum 5 years of quoting experience, preferably in aluminum automotive
- Analyzing RFQs and specifications: including customer requests for quotes, engineering drawings, specifications, and other project requirements.
- Cost Estimation: develop accurate cost estimates by calculating material, labor, and tooling costs.
- Quote Preparation to include labor routings, cost breakdowns, and other supporting documentation.
- Collaboration with sales, procurement, and other team members to gather or clarify requirements to ensure quotes align with facility capabilities and objectives.
- Technical expertise:
Provide technical input including manufacturing methods, and cost-saving solutions. - Quote Management:
Tracking quote status and assist with quote handoff. - Mentor and coach small team of engineers, including assigning daily tasks and work to remove technical blockers to maintain project momentum
- Lead cross-functional RCA teams
- Guide a small team of engineers, present complex, high-level technical strategies to senior leadership.
Education /
Work Experience:
- Bachelor degree in Engineering is preferred, or at least 5 years relevant experience in high paced automotive manufacturing environment.
- Minimum 5 years experience in Quoting aluminium extruded automotive
- Experience and operating knowledge in Solid Works, design software and engineering tools
- Experience creating/modifing part numbers, BOMs and routings to support current and new business
Technical Skills :
- Create engineering drawings, part numbers, BOMs and routings
- Technical understanding of manufacturing processes, materials and engineering priciples.
- Must be proficient in cost estimation techniques and tools.
- Excellent written and verbal communications skills required
- Ability to identify and resolve technical issues related to quotes
- Ability to manage multiple quotes and deadlines effectively.
Physical requirements:
- Must be able to sit for long periods of time
- Must be able to work at a computer for extended periods.
- Able to lift and carry up to 35 pounds as part of the normal work day routine.
- Must be able to stand for long periods of time.
- Must be able to twist, bend and stoop with ease.
- Must be able to fully utilize arms and hands
- Must be able to walk up and down one flight of stairs
Health/Safety/Environmental/Housekeeping:
- Abides by company rules and policies and procedures.
- Reports unsafe conditions or reports immediately to Supervision or HR Manager.
- Fills out ‘Near Miss’ paperwork on any unsafe condition or act.
- Understands company safety initiates and acts as facilitator on the floor to promote those initiatives.
- Responsible for housekeeping and 5S in his or her respective area of work or areas as directed by the departmental supervisor.
