Essential Skills

• 3+ years in Construction Inspection/Observation or as a Civil Engineering Technician.
• Experience with reviewing construction plans and documentation for infrastructure construction projects.
• Previous experience in fieldwork for construction engineering or civil engineering projects.
• Valid Driver's License.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree from an ABET-accredited college preferred but not required
• Direct experience as a Construction Inspector/Observer, Construction Engineer, or Civil Engineering Technician (or related position).
• Experience with projects related to wastewater treatment or water systems.

Job Description

The Construction Inspector / Civil Engineering Technician, also known as a Construction Services Specialist, will oversee and review the construction process from the field. The role involves ensuring that projects comply with engineering plans and specifications throughout their construction phases. Projects will encompass a variety of municipal and public utility developments, including wastewater treatment plants, stormwater systems, drinking water treatment facilities, pump stations, and roadway utilities, with a primary focus on underground water infrastructure.

Responsibilities

• Document construction activities and conduct construction inspections from the project site.
• Collect, maintain, and organize construction documentation.
• Review engineering and construction documents for projects.
• Conduct onsite reviews of construction project sites to ensure compliance with engineering plans and specifications.
• Collaborate and maintain client relationships on the project site.
• Communicate effectively with contractors and subcontractors.
• Verify design plan accuracy at project sites.
• Propose improvements or recommend alterations when necessary during construction.
• Consult with contractors and engineers regarding construction activities, construction reports, and engineering designs.
• Review changes in construction and material specifications from developments during project construction.
• Provide assistance and expertise on construction projects regarding reports, inspections, tests, and other engineering records.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Kalamazoo, MI.

Pay And Benefits

The pay range for this position is $23.00 - $33.00/hr.
