Sr. Accountant

Description We are looking for an experienced Senior Accountant to join our team in Kalamazoo, Michigan. This role involves overseeing critical accounting processes, ensuring compliance with financial regulations, and supporting organizational goals through accurate reporting. The ideal candidate will have strong analytical skills and a proven track record of managing complex accounting tasks.

Responsibilities:

- Perform and oversee month-end close procedures to ensure timely and accurate financial reporting.

- Manage the general ledger and ensure all entries are properly recorded and reconciled.

- Prepare and review journal entries while maintaining compliance with accounting standards.

- Conduct account reconciliations to identify and resolve discrepancies effectively.

- Handle bank reconciliations and ensure accuracy in cash flow reporting.

- Apply GAAP principles to ensure compliance and accuracy in financial reporting.

- Assist with Vertex sales and use tax processes, ensuring proper documentation and compliance.

- Support audits by preparing necessary documentation and providing detailed explanations.

- Analyze financial data to support strategic decision-making and improve processes. Requirements - Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.

- Proven experience in month-end close procedures and general ledger management.

- Strong knowledge of GAAP accounting principles and practices.

- Proficiency in preparing journal entries and conducting account reconciliations.

- Familiarity with bank reconciliation processes and cash flow analysis.

- Experience with Vertex sales and use tax processes is preferred.

- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.

- Strong attention to detail and ability to meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
