Accounts Payable Clerk

Description

We are looking for a part-time (20 hours/week) detail-oriented Accounts Payable Clerk to join our team on a contract basis in Kalamazoo, Michigan. This role is essential in ensuring accurate and efficient processing of invoices, payments, and expense reports. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of accounts payable processes and a commitment to maintaining financial accuracy within a higher education environment.

M-F, first-shift, part-time role.

Responsibilities:

- Process invoices with accuracy, ensuring proper coding and compliance with organizational policies.

- Manage check runs and ensure timely payment to vendors.

- Review and resolve discrepancies in invoice processing to maintain accuracy.

- Handle expense reports, verifying details and reimbursing employees as needed.

- Maintain organized documentation of all accounts payable activities for auditing purposes.

- Communicate effectively with vendors and internal departments to address payment-related inquiries.

- Ensure compliance with financial regulations and university policies.

- Assist with monthly reconciliations and reporting related to accounts payable.

- Identify opportunities for process improvements within accounts payable operations.

- Collaborate with team members to support overall financial goals and objectives.

Requirements - Proven experience in accounts payable or similar financial roles.

- Proficiency in processing invoices and managing check runs.

- Strong attention to detail and ability to identify discrepancies.

- Familiarity with handling expense reports and reimbursements.

- Excellent organizational and documentation skills.

- Effective communication skills for vendor and team interaction.

- Knowledge of financial regulations and compliance standards.

- Ability to work independently and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
