Cargo Agent duties include loading and unloading cargo and mail, operating aircraft and ground equipment, cleaning, service, towing, engaging and disengaging air‑start and ground power units, cargo transfers, warehousing, and customer service. The position is union represented.
Must be able to work shifts: 3:30 pm – 11:00 pm, with the possibility of split days off and weekend availability.
Responsibilities- Route inbound and outbound air freight shipments to their destinations.
- Receive counter orders from customers and arrange for pickup of freight and delivery to the loading platform.
- Assemble cargo according to destination.
- Weigh items and determine cost using established tariffs.
- Direct or participate in cargo loading to ensure complete load and even weight distribution.
- Itemize charges, prepare freight bills, accept payments, and issue refunds.
- Prepare manifest to accompany shipments.
- Adhere to required security procedures and hazardous material handling requirements.
- Unload inbound freight, notify consignees on arrival of shipments, and arrange for delivery to consignees.
- Perform operations in conjunction with loading and unloading of mail.
- Scan and assemble mail according to destination.
- Maintain required security procedures at Air Cargo and with equipment handling.
- Maintain a clean and safe work environment at all times.
- High School diploma or equivalency preferred.
- Ability to lift, push, pull, or carry objects of up to 75 lbs.
- Must qualify for and obtain a U.S. Customs and Border Protection seal.
- Possess a valid driver’s license, Airport Motor Vehicle Operating Permit, and forklift certification for loading and unloading freight.
- Work independently in a fast‑paced environment and be detail oriented.
- Available to work various shifts including weekends and holidays.
- Basic typing and computer skills required.
- Ability to perform basic math calculations.
Compensation:
This position starts at $20.00 per hour.
