Assistant Foreman
Phillips Tanks and Structure located in Kailua, HI is looking for an Assistant Foreman to join its growing team.
Phillips Tank & Structure (PTS) is a specialized tank construction company. We build and repair welded above‑ground storage tanks (ASTs), bolted tanks, and related structures. We also inspect, install, and repair tank systems such as aluminum geodesic dome covers, aluminum internal floating roofs (IFRs), IFR mechanical shoe seals, liquid level gauges, fire protection systems, silo support structures, industrial storage tanks, and heating and insulation systems.

- Assist the Foreman in coordinating projects and other crew members to provide optimum service.
- Serve as a point of contact with customers, vendors, and subcontractors on site.
- Represent PTS in a professional, positive manner to customers and employees.
- Understand and assist in the allocation of individual job tasks based on skill set, budgeted hours, and job sequence.
- Facilitate harmonious working relationships with crew members to prevent problems and conflicts.
- Perform regular job‑site observations (safety and quality) to provide direction for all crew members.
- Act as an intermediary between crew members, keeping them advised of policies, procedures, and requirements of PTS and the Foreman.
- Ensure employees follow proper safety policies and procedures.
- Maintain a high standard of safety, quality, and productivity.
- Establish supervisor‑level understanding of all assigned projects.
- Understand and follow drawing packages.
- Mentor less experienced crew members (SSI and SSC).
- Supervise and provide instruction on a variety of tasks, equipment, and tools.
- Operate all tools on the jobsite including power tools, air tools, welding equipment, testing equipment, and safety equipment.
- Set up and operate weld machines, generators, and air compressors.
- Operate heavy equipment including forklifts, skid steers, and aerial lifts.
- Knowledge of crane operations and use, including rigging and signaling.
- Assist in the care and maintenance of all tooling and equipment.
- Assist in receiving, inspecting, and inventorying material.
- Assist in maintaining a clean and orderly jobsite.
- Assist Foreman with trailer inventory requirements.
- Submit accurate, neat, and orderly documentation as required.
- Present the Foreman with the completed JSA, daily equipment inspection documentation, and A‑F to delegate at discretion.
- Complete S309 Weekly Safety Checklist documentation.
- Maintain the Project Job Book and Safety record.
- Great communication and organization skills.
- Ability to solve problems and suggest improvements to systems.
- Basic computer skills (Excel, Word, Office).
- Excellent attendance and punctuality.
- Willingness to learn.
- At least 18 years old.
- Able to lift 50 lbs.
High school diploma or equivalent. - Eligible to work in the United States.
- Willingness to authorize background checks, motor vehicle driving record checks, and to submit to pre‑hire, random, and post‑incident drug and alcohol testing.
- No criminal convictions for dishonesty, sexual misconduct, violence, or acts of terrorism.
- Valid driver’s license.
- Welding ability is a plus.
