Bakery Order Writer (Buyer / Inventory Replenishment) – Full Time

Whole Foods Market seeks a dynamic Bakery Order Writer to manage the ordering, replenishment, and merchandising of bakery, coffee, and juice products. The role ensures inventory control, supports promotions, and maintains store standards.

$17.50/hr – $30.20/hr (commensurate with experience)

• Replenish products through proper buying procedures.
• Monitor and act on open PO reports for purchases and credits promptly.
• Request and ensure proper signage.
• Control spoilage/shrink, achieve turn goals, and participate in inventory.
• Complete spoilage, sampling, temperature, and sweep worksheets as required.
• Ensure orders for product are timely and accurate to monitor inventory turns.
• Maintain positive relationships with vendors.
• Oversee customer special order procedure.
• Analyze and control product transfers, waste, and spoilage.
• Support leadership in conducting inventories.
• Maintain financial profitability by meeting and exceeding purchasing and sales targets.
• Arrive to the workstation on time, appropriately groomed, dressed, and ready; work all scheduled shifts and attend required trainings.
• Provide excellent customer service, addressing needs of customers promptly and courteously.
• Maximize sales potential through effective product prep, storage, rotation, stocking, and merchandising.
• Follow and ensure compliance with established procedures, including Weights and Measures, health, and sanitation.
• Maintain a clean and sanitary working and shopping environment; keep equipment in accordance with WFM standards.
• Perform opening, mid‑day, and closing duties as assigned; ensure accuracy of signs and pricing.
• Report safety hazards and violations immediately.
• Perform other duties as assigned by store, regional, or national leadership.

• Comprehensive knowledge of bakery, coffee, and juice products.
• Working knowledge of merchandising expectations.
• Ability to educate team on product knowledge and convey enthusiasm.
• Strong basic math skills.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and ordering systems.
• Excellent communication skills and teamwork orientation.
• Ability to convey information clearly to team members, customers, and vendors.
• Ability to meet customer service expectations in all interactions.
• Ability to follow directions, manage time effectively, and stay organized.

12+ months retail experience.

• Lifting 50 pounds.
• Standing and walking 6–8 hours per 8‑hour shift.
• Fine manipulation, pushing, pulling, single grasping.
• Bending, twisting, squatting, and reaching motions.
• Exposure to FDA‑approved cleaning chemicals.
• Exposure to temperatures: 90°F.
• Operate in wet and dry conditions.
• Flexible schedule including nights, weekends, and holidays.
• Use tools and equipment, including knives, box cutters, electric pallet jacks, and heavy machinery.
