Job Description
The Cook I is responsible for all facets of daily hot food production including presentations for airlines.
Essential Functions
Food Production: cooks all hot foods and leads production of Cook II and Cooks Helpers.
- Cook food in accordance with recipes and airline specifications.
- Assists in the development and training of food production employees.
Food Safety and Quality: in collaboration with managerial and supervisory staff, oversight of food preparation in adherence to all related regulations.
- Ensure compliance with airline specifications, personal hygiene, sanitation and food handling procedures.
- Ensure compliance with OSHA safe practices, USDA & FDA food safety and HACCP requirements and sanitation guidelines.
- Maintains workstation and overall kitchen cleanliness in collaboration with the sanitation department.
Other Responsibilities
- Assist with ensuring all products are properly stored in compliance with food safety regulations and for inventory purposes.
- Assist with departmental scheduling and cost controls including labor and food cost and waste control through proper food rotation procedures.
Skills and Qualifications
Five years of cooking experience with a minimum of two years in a Lead position, with experience in airline catering or an equivalent high volume cooking institution.
This role requires good communication and comprehension skills and the ability to speak, read and write in the English language. This role also requires working knowledge of food safety guidelines, including safe temperatures at which food must be kept and to which food must be prepared to avoid foodborne illness.
Work Environment
This job operates in a professional kitchen environment. This role routinely uses kitchen equipment and works in varying temperatures including hot and cold.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to communicate verbally and nonverbally. This role frequently is required to stand and traverse for long periods; engage in manual dexterity to move objects including reaching overhead and operating equipment. This role will lift/carry/transport some heavy materials with or without mechanical assistance.
Position Type/Expected Hours of Work
This is a full‑time position with primarily a day shift.
