This Airport Law Enforcement Officer – Armed Patrol in Kahului, HI will serve and safeguard the airport, its facilities, its travelers, and airport operations. You will interact with the public, provide outstanding customer service, and communicate clearly while upholding our values of teamwork, integrity, and putting people first.   • Position Type: Part Time – Afternoon
  • Pay Rate: $28.86 / Hour with an hourly bonus of $3.58. Premium paid shall be based on the position actually worked by the employee.
  • Job Schedule: Day Time Thur : 01:30 PM – 10:00 PM / Sat: 01:30 PM – 10:00 PM
Qualifications
  • 2+ years of professional law enforcement experience in the U.S. after graduating from a certified law enforcement academy (Federal, State, or County level)
  • Graduate of a Law Enforcement or Military Police Training Program or Equivalent (must provide credentials upon applying)
  • Valid Driver's License
  • Law Enforcement Officer License
  • 22+ years of age
  • No felony convictions or convictions for abuse of a household member under the Lautenberg Amendment to the Gun Control Act of 1968 (18 U.S.C. § 922(g)(9)) or documented truthfulness infractions in violation of Giglio/Henthorn for federal impeachment proceedings.
Formal Education, Licenses, and Certifications Required
  • Certified State law enforcement recruit training
  • Certified County law enforcement recruit training
  • Federal law enforcement training
  • Programs approved by the Director

  • No record of moral turpitude, domestic violence, untruthfulness, or mental or emotional disorders that may interfere with performance of duties
Responsibilities
  • Provide customer service to clients by carrying out security‑related procedures, site‑specific policies, and, when appropriate, emergency response activities.
  • Respond to incidents and critical situations in a calm, problem‑solving manner.
  • Exercise sound judgment and render immediate, appropriate decisions under stressful conditions.
  • Maintain maturity in conduct, behavior, and attitude.
  • Take orders, follow instructions, accept and assume responsibility for one's actions.
  • Remain alert, attentive, and conduct oneself professionally. Recognize, respond to, and take appropriate corrective actions in various situations.
  • Possess strong moral character, meeting high standards and demonstrating truthfulness.
  • Communicate effectively, verbally and in writing, in English.
  • Show courtesy in inter‑person relationships with the public, airport employees, tenants, law enforcement, and security personnel.
  • LEOs may be required to provide court appearances for citations issued on behalf of DOTA. Contractor shall provide replacement staffing for LEOs required to attend court proceedings.
Physical Requirements and Environment
  • Mentally and emotionally capable of performing all duties required for assigned post/duties.
  • In good physical health and fully capable of performing normal or emergency duties requiring moderate to arduous physical exertion (standing, walking, patrolling, climbing stairs, running, and self‑defense).
  • Perform essential physical tasks, with or without reasonable accommodation, including:
    • Lifting and carrying objects weighing up to 25 lbs. (e.g., fire extinguisher) for a designated distance.
    • Assisting in the safe evacuation of individuals, including carrying a small child or providing support to persons with limited mobility.
  • Subject to a random drug screen.
  • Must be able to exercise physical force, if required, in the execution of official duties.
  • Pass and complete a one‑time physical examination within the past 6 months.
