As an Airport Law Enforcement Officer - Armed Patrol in Kahului, HI, you will serve and safeguard the airport, its facilities, its travelers, and airport operations. You will interact with the public, provide outstanding customer service, and communicate clearly while upholding our values of teamwork, integrity, and putting people first. Position Type: Part Time - Afternoon

Pay Rate: $28.86 / Hour with an hourly bonus of $3.58. Premium paid shall be based on the position actually worked by the employee.

Job Schedule:

• Sun: 01:30 PM – 10:00 PM

Location note: Maui, Hawai‘i

All applicants must meet the following criteria:

• 2+ years of professional law enforcement experience in the U.S. after graduating from a certified law enforcement academy (Federal, State, or County level)

• Graduate of Law Enforcement or Military Police Training Program or Equivalent (credentials must be provided upon applying)
• Valid Driver's License
• Law Enforcement Officer License
• 22+ years of age

The basic qualifications listed below are representative of the knowledge, skills, and/or experience required to be hired. These are the minimum requirements for success in this role.

Applicant must complete one of the following approved programs:

• Certified State law enforcement recruit training
• Certified County law enforcement recruit training
• Federal law enforcement training
• Programs approved by the Director
• Additional minimum qualifications: no felony convictions or certain exclusions related to honesty and integrity as defined in the policy

* A valid driver’s license is required for driving positions.

• Must be able to supervise Contractor’s personnel and work effectively with airport management, tenants, other law enforcement agencies and the public on security disputes, complaints, or performance issues

These are other criteria that may enhance the hiring decision but would not rule out consideration if not present:

• No record of moral turpitude, domestic violence, untruthfulness, or mental or emotional disorders that would interfere with performance of duties

• Provide customer service by carrying out security-related procedures, site-specific policies, and emergency response activities when appropriate
• Respond to incidents and critical situations calmly and with problem-solving approaches
• Exercise sound judgment and render immediate, appropriate decisions under stressful conditions
• Demonstrate maturity in conduct, behavior, and attitude
• Follow instructions, take orders, and assume responsibility for actions
• Maintain alertness, attentiveness, and professional conduct; recognize and respond to varying situations
• Exhibit high moral character and truthfulness
• Communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing
• Provide courteous interactions with the public, airport employees, tenants, law enforcement, and security personnel
• LEOs may be required to appear in court for citations issued on behalf of DOTA; contractor shall provide replacement staffing for court appearances

• Capable of performing duties required for the post, with physical exertion including standing, walking, patrolling, climbing stairs, running, and self-defense
• Ability to perform essential physical tasks with or without reasonable accommodation (e.g., lifting up to 25 lbs) and assist in safe evacuation of individuals
• Subject to random drug screening
• Must be able to exercise physical force if required
• Must pass a security background check
