As an Airport Law Enforcement Officer – Armed Patrol in Kahului, HI
, you will serve and safeguard the airport, its facilities, its travelers, and airport operations. You will interact with the public, provide outstanding customer service, and communicate clearly while upholding our values of teamwork, integrity, and putting people first. - Position Type: Part Time – Afternoon
- Pay Rate: $28.86 / Hour with an hourly bonus of $3.58. Premium paid shall be based on the position actually worked by the employee.
- Job Schedule:
- Thursday: 2:30 PM – 11:00 PM
- Friday: 2:30 PM – 11:00 PM
- 2+ years of professional law enforcement experience in the U.S. after graduating from a certified law enforcement academy (Federal, State, or County level).
- Graduate of Law Enforcement or Military Police Training Program or Equivalent (must provide credentials upon applying).
- Valid Driver’s License.
- Law Enforcement Officer License.
- 22+ years of age.
The basic qualifications listed below are representative of the relevant knowledge, skills, and/or experience required in order to be hired. These are requirements that we have determined are the minimum a candidate must have in order to be successful in this role.
Formal Education, Licenses, and Certifications Required- Certified State law enforcement recruit training.
- Certified County law enforcement recruit training.
- Federal law enforcement training.
- Programs approved by the Director.
- No felony convictions or convictions for abuse of a household member under the Lautenberg Amendment to the Gun Control Act of 1968 or documented truthfulness infractions in violation of federal impeachment proceedings.
- Ability to supervise Contractor’s personnel and work effectively with airport management, tenants, other law enforcement agencies and the public on matters related to security disputes, complaints on performance, conduct or behavior of subordinate employees.
- No record of moral turpitude, domestic violence, untruthfulness, or mental or emotional disorders which may interfere with performance of duties.
- Provide customer service to clients by carrying out security‑related procedures, site‑specific policies, and when appropriate, emergency response activities.
- Respond to incidents and critical situations in a calm, problem‑solving manner.
- Exercise sound judgement and render immediate, appropriate decisions under stressful conditions.
- Maintain maturity in conduct, behavior and attitude.
- Follow orders, accept and assume responsibility for one's actions.
- Remain alert, attentive, and professional, recognizing and responding appropriately to various situations.
- Possess strong moral character and high standards of truthfulness.
- Communicate effectively, verbally and in writing, in English.
- Maintain courtesy in interpersonal relationships with the public, airport employees, tenants, law enforcement and security personnel.
- Attend court appearances for citations that are issued on behalf of DOTA, if required, with replacement staffing in place.
- Mentally and emotionally capable of performing all duties required for assigned post/duties.
- In good physical health and fully capable of performing normal or emergency duties requiring moderate to arduous physical exertion such as standing, walking, patrolling, climbing stairs, and running.
