Job FunctionSupervises and directs activities related to the Company’s revenue meters. Provides expertise, training and guidance to maintain electric meter operations.
Essential Functions- Supervises, directs, and monitors workforce activities to test, install and remove all meters on the Company’s system. Includes administrative functions such as preparing performance appraisals, conducting interviews, disciplinary action, reviewing timecards, etc.
- Must be available for emergencies after normal working hours.
- Responsible for the safety and training of all subordinates. Trains subordinates, directs and reviews their work, provides refresher training on a scheduled or as‑needed basis.
- Serves as contact person responsible for field matters and quality assurance related to electric metering. Assists contractors and electricians in compliance with metering requirements. Assists commercial and residential customers with issues related to meter compliance requirements, standards, and special problems.
- Performs on‑site field work.
- Detects and deters meter diversion and provides evidence for just reimbursement from customers.
- Maintains the meter record system.
- Develops and manages the O&M budget forecast for the section.
- Is responsible to ensure that the inventory of meters and metering equipment is purchased, and managed effectively and efficiently.
- Participates in Company emergency response activities as assigned, including any activities required to prepare for such emergency response.
- Thorough knowledge of the principles and theories of electrical engineering normally acquired through completion of advanced college level courses required for a BS degree in Electrical Engineering or related work experience.
- Thorough knowledge of electric metering operations and meter work.
- Knowledge of metering standards and national electrical code.
- Apprenticeship program or equivalent experience.
- Successful completion of a supervisory training course or its equivalent.
- Thorough knowledge of policies and procedures contained in such documents as Company/Union agreement, Accident Prevention Manual, General Information Manual, etc.
- Working knowledge of personal computers and/or mainframe systems and related software applications (i.e.; spreadsheets, word processing, etc.).
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Organizational and planning skills to handle various projects/assignments.
- Ability to handle difficult and/or sensitive issues while using tact, courtesy and discretion.
- Supervisory/leadership skills and abilities to work with a variety of individuals occasionally dealing with sensitive, difficult or confrontational issues.
- Ability to remain flexible in a demanding work environment and adapt to rapidly changing priorities.
- Strong interpersonal skills to influence and persuade various groups or individuals.
- Must have or be able to qualify for a State of Hawaii driver’s license. Must meet the standards for driving positions stated in the Hiring Standards for Driving Positions policy. These standards may be adjusted periodically to meet business and safety objectives.
