The Department of Transportation & Public Facilities and Fairbanks International Airport's Airfield Maintenance section is looking for Equipment Operators 1/2 Flex to help "Keep Alaska Moving!"
What you will be doingProvide vital support by operating heavy equipment to keep airport runways, taxiways, and roads clear and safe, especially during winter conditions. Perform pavement and facility maintenance, support construction projects, and respond to emergencies to ensure Fairbanks International Airport remains fully operational and compliant with FAA standards.

Special Notice – Airport Movement Area Driver CertificationRequired to operate vehicles in aircraft movement areas to ensure compliance with airfield safety and communication protocols – Authority:
Federal Aviation Administration 14 CFR Part 139.329.

FLEXIBLY STAFFEDThis vacancy may be filled at either Equipment Operator 1 or 2 level. Starting salary determined by level. Promotion to Level 2 upon successful completion of probationary period and required training, meeting qualifications for higher job class.

Commercial Driver’s License RequirementsPosition requires a Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) per federal regulations 49 CFR 383. Must register with the federal CDL Drug & Alcohol Testing Clearinghouse prior to duties and provide consent to review driver information per 49 CFR 382.
Equipment Operator Journey 1Class B Alaska Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) required t obtain Class A CDL within 180 days of hire and sign agreement.
Equipment Operator Journey 2Class A Alaska Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) required t obtain N-Tanker and Hazmat endorsements within 90 days of hire and sign agreement.
Drug and Alcohol PolicySelected candidates must comply with DOT&PF Drug and Alcohol Policy and procedures and cannot start work until confirmation of passing pre-employment drug test.
EducationSubmit education credentials, transcripts (unofficial acceptable if institution listed). Foreign education must be evaluated by private organization or state university for equivalence.
Work ExperienceProvide employer’s name, job title, dates, and full/part-time status. Responses reviewed for minimum qualifications met.
