Overview
ATTENTION ALASKA RESIDENTS ONLY! Keep Alaska Moving. The Department of Transportation and Public Facilities (DOT&PF), Southcoast Region Highways and Aviation/M&O is looking for a Rural Airport Foreman in King Salmon to help us Keep Alaska Moving.
Location:
King Salmon. This role oversees maintenance operations at the airport, supervises staff, and collaborates with other agencies on projects and permitting. This is an Equal Employment Opportunity and Affirmative Action employer.
- Supervise the airport maintenance crew (6 full-time) by planning, scheduling, and directing daily operations.
- Perform and oversee maintenance activities including snow and ice control, road and airport surface repair, vegetation management, and drainage work.
- Operate and coordinate the use of heavy equipment such as plow trucks, loaders, graders, and dozers.
- Maintain records and reports of daily work, inventory, and materials using the state’s Maintenance Management System (AGILE).
- Respond to public inquiries, manage personnel matters, and coordinate with other agencies and DOT&PF departments on projects and permitting.

Work location is King Salmon. The role may involve travel to other stations, including extended summer assignments to complete projects.
Qualifications- Class A Commercial Driver's License (CDL).
- Three years of experience in the maintenance and repair of highways and/or airports.
- Qualifications to operate all required equipment at the duty station.
- Some positions require a Hazardous Materials endorsement and certain trainings.
- Positions may require First Aid, ETT, CPR, First Responder, ARFF certification (14 CFR Part 139) and Airport Security Coordinator (49 CFR Part 15f42).
- Incumbents may need a criminal background check and fingerprinting; some roles may involve firearms per federal regulations.
Selected candidates must comply with the DOT&PF Drug and Alcohol Policy and may not start in a CDL position until a pre-employment drug test is passed. Violations are recorded with the Federal CDL Drug & Alcohol Testing Clearinghouse.
Additional Required Information- At time of interview, submit three professional references, and copies of last two performance evaluations (or letters of recommendation).
- Copy of CDL license.
