This position is a member of an outstanding staff and plays a vital role in providing care and support in a safe environment for up to one hundred seventy‑seven (177) elder residents.

What You Will Be Doing:

This position is part of the maintenance department which is responsible for keeping all heating, mechanical, electrical, electronic, and plumbing systems in the building functioning correctly and oversees maintenance of the grounds and all renovation contracts and contractors who do work on the building. Responsible for applying safety and health regulations and correcting unsafe conditions throughout the facility.

The Working Environment You Can Expect:

This job is at the Anchorage Pioneer Home, an assisted living home at 923 W 11th Avenue in Anchorage, Alaska. It overlooks an area known as the Park Strip with views of the Chugach Mountains easily visible from most floors of the home.

Who We Are Looking For:

• Knowledge of operating and performing repairs to HVAC, industrial‑sized boilers and critical infrastructure systems, security systems, fire alarm systems, telephone systems, key and lock repairs, etc.
• Knowledge of carpentry, plumbing, electrical, appliance repair, grounds maintenance, and landscaping.
• Ability to use computers, software applications, and automated systems to accomplish work.
• Ability to make sound, well‑informed, and objective decisions; perceives the impact and implications of decisions; commits to action, even in uncertain situations, to accomplish organizational goals.
• Ability to work and communicate within a team environment and successfully manage multiple tasks, under tight or changing deadlines.

Other Job Information:

• This position is in support of the Pioneer Home, which is a 24‑hour facility.
• This Pioneer Home is an Eden Alternative facility, where the environment includes contact with plants, flowers, and pets including cats, dogs, fish and birds.
• Employees of the Pioneer Home receive continual screening for tuberculosis and criminal history.
