Overview
We are looking for a motivated and experienced heavy equipment operator to join our team and take on a leadership role overseeing the maintenance and repair of roadways, storm drainage systems, and related street infrastructure.
Under the general supervision of the Streets & Fleet Maintenance Superintendent, you will be responsible for managing the Valley crew (Mendenhall valley and Out-the-Road service areas), planning and scheduling projects, inspecting work, and ensuring compliance with safety regulations. This position also involves assigning tasks, preparing performance evaluations, and providing training to maintain high standards of service.

Workinghours and location
This is a full-time, salaried position, that normally works Monday through Friday 6:30am – 3:00pm but may be assigned an alternative schedule to meet seasonal operational needs, with the expectation of work outside of these hours as needed.

Description of what you will be doingThe Streets Maintenance Supervisor is responsible for overseeing a team dedicated to maintaining and repairing CBJ roadways, storm drainage systems, and other street infrastructure. Under the general supervision of the Streets Superintendent, you ll ensure the safe, timely, and efficient upkeep of public streets by planning, scheduling, and inspecting maintenance projects. In this role, you will supervise daily operations, manage a crew, and ensure adherence to safety regulations.
- Plan, schedule, and supervise road maintenance activities, including snow removal, grading, pothole repairs, and storm drainage cleaning.
- Prepare budgets, cost estimates, and daily project planners; ensure all necessary equipment and materials are available.
- Supervise and evaluate team members, providing performance reviews, and training.
- Investigate safety incidents and enforce safety compliance for direct reports.
- Perform additional tasks as needed and act as the Streets Maintenance Superintendent in their absence.

ExperienceSix (6) years of progressively responsible experience as a heavy equipment operator that includes at least two (2) years of lead or supervisory experience in construction or maintenance.
OtherA valid Class “A” State of Alaska Commercial Driver s License valid for vehicles equipped with air brakes and a Tanker (N) endorsement at time of application and for continued employment.
