Job Description

The Division of Juvenile Justice is recruiting for an Environmental Services, Journey 2 position at the McLaughlin Youth Center, located at 2600 Providence Drive, Anchorage. This role includes independently inspecting and maintaining a clean and sanitized environment at the McLaughlin Youth Center (MYC). Responsibilities include cleaning administration offices, probation offices, medical suite, training room, school, classrooms, and gymnasium; vacuuming, dust‑mopping, wet‑mopping, waxing and buffing tile floors in cafeteria and school; bonnet buffing and spot‑cleaning carpeted areas; emptying trash receptacles, washing windows, doors, walls, light fixtures; cleaning whiteboards;

arranging chairs; ensuring cleanliness of building entrances, removing snow/ice from sidewalks and steps during winter. The position also entails cleaning restroom facilities in public and support areas, including urinals, toilets, sinks, mirrors, light fixtures, windows, doors, walls, wet‑mopping floors, and refilling paper towel and toilet paper dispensers. In addition, the role involves supervising and training juvenile residents to perform custodial duties with a focus on safety and security.

• Inspect and maintain facility cleanliness and sanitation.
• Clean administrative, medical, training, classroom and gym areas.
• Vacuum, dust‑mop, wet‑mop, wax and buff tile and gym floors.
• Bonnet buffing and carpet spot cleaning.
• Empty trash, wash windows, doors, walls, light fixtures and whiteboards.
• Arrange chairs and keep entrances clean.
• Remove snow and ice from sidewalks and steps in winter.
• Clean restroom facilities and refill supplies.
• Supervise and train residents on custodial duties.

Full‑time, Monday–Friday, 7:00 am–3:30 pm, with a lunch period 11:30 am–12:00 pm. The first shift ends at 3:30 pm; overtime policies apply as per state regulations.
