Clinical Assistant III - Specialty Clinic - 0.6 FTE

Pay Range: $25.00 - $33.71
OverviewThe Clinical Assistant III performs all duties of a Clinical Assistant II with greater clinical experience and judgment. This role supports patients across all ages in an ambulatory care clinic, ensuring efficient clinic operations and patient flow.
Key Essential Functions- Accurately collects and documents information in patient charts, maintaining records and compiling medical data.
- Ensures medication and immunization records are current.
- Recognizes signs or symptoms requiring prompt intervention and acts appropriately.
- Transports patients within the facility as needed.
- Manages patient care duties while maintaining clinic flow.
- Reports changes in patient condition or unusual incidents.
- Sets up equipment and supplies for routine exams and minor procedures.
- Prepares patients for procedures, treatments, and minor office surgeries.
- Provides specimen collection and Point of Care Testing (POCT), following protocols.
- Performs radiology exams per protocol when competencies are met.
- Assists Provider and Clinic Nurse as directed, within licensed scope of practice.
- Administers immunizations and injections as ordered.
- May perform basic life support, as certified.
- Assists provider in identifying patients overdue for immunizations and preventative health maintenance.
- Provides cross‑coverage for peers to ensure efficient patient flow.
- Attends and participates in at least 50% area staff meetings annually; applies information presented and participates in unit goal setting.

- High school diploma or GED – required
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification – required
- Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) OR
- EMT III Current AK Certification OR
- Current AK Paramedic Certification OR
- Nursing degree from an accredited institution can replace the above requirements.
- Clinical competency required within 3 months of hire and every 3 years.
- Experience working in a healthcare setting preferred.
- Clinic procedures for receiving and following through on a patient visit.
- Age‑appropriate vital signs and behaviors.
- Life‑saving procedures.
- Medical terminology; capable of learning various computer programs.
- Communication and customer service skills.
- Computer application skills sufficient for medical database usage.
- Operation of medical equipment: blood pressure cuff, pulse oximeter, EKG machine, cardiac monitor, manual defibrillator.
- Strong interpersonal, organizational skills.
- Train and use EMR systems and record patient data accurately.
- Communicate and interact with multidisciplinary team.
- Recognize and respond appropriately in emergency situations.
