Position: Statewide Training Specialist 1 (PCN 10-9887)

The Department of Natural Resources, Division of Forestry & Fire Protection is recruiting for a Training Specialist 1 in Fairbanks.

This recruitment has been reopened and now has three potential duty stations:
Fairbanks, Palmer, or Kenai.

This position is open to Alaska Residents only.

What You Will Be Doing

The Department of Natural Resources, Division of Forestry & Fire Protection, is recruiting for a Statewide Training Specialist position. Under the direction of the Statewide Training Coordinator, this position will work closely with the Regional Training Specialists and Fire Management Officers to provide high-quality training to our support staff and firefighters.

The Division of Forestry & Fire Protection fosters a mission-driven culture with the responsibility of protecting Alaska's values, including life and property, from wildland fire. The Division works closely with federal, state, and local emergency response agencies as well as private industry vendors to provide wildland fire management and protection for the state of Alaska. The fire program's training section is an integral part of building, developing, supporting, and maintaining a well-trained Alaskan workforce.

The Working Environment You Can Expect

This position has statewide responsibilities and provides coverage across Alaska. The environment is mission-oriented and involves collaborative interaction with colleagues in the division, other state agencies, local government, and our federal counterparts in wildland fire management.

This position is primarily office-based but may require travel to rural Alaska to support on-site training or incident response, where living conditions can be rustic, and work is conducted in a fast-paced emergency response setting.
