Overview
The Department of Natural Resources, Division of Forestry & Fire Protection is recruiting for multiple Wildland Fire & Resource Technician 2/3 positions in Palmer, Alaska.
What You Will Be Doing- Provide daily supervision for 10-20 Firefighters on a Type I Interagency Hotshot Crew.
- Act as Incident Commander during the initial attack of low complexity wildland fires; lead firing and holding operations on initial or extended attack fires; provide input on fire line placement and conduct thorough safety briefings.
- Instruct NWCG courses and develop and lead training in basic wildland fire principles.
- Operate hand lines, power saws, water pumps, and chainsaws; teach their use to subordinates.
- Complete various administrative duties throughout the year.
- Six months of trainee or entry‑level wildland fire fighting or forestry field experience, or equivalent with another employer.
- Twelve months of wildland fire fighting or forestry field experience, with at least six months developmental level; equivalent with another employer.
- Red Card qualification under the National Incident Qualification System.
- Ability to pass Work Capacity Test at the Arduous level.
- Valid Alaska driver’s license; commercial driver’s license and aviation support certifications are an advantage.
