Job Summary

The Civil Engineer will provide complete designs, develop construction documents and reports, and support other civil and structural projects. The position requires day‑to‑day team communication, project planning, organization, training, direction, and control to meet the company's engineering goals and requirements.

Key Responsibilities
  • Must have excellent attention to detail with a desire for excellence and establish and maintain effective working relationships with diverse groups, including company employees at various levels, clients, vendors, government regulators, and other outside companies and individuals.
  • Be familiar with all aspects of construction (including but not limited to ironwork, structures, grading, water supply, sewage disposal, paving, storm drainage, site layout, building design, permitting, construction materials testing, etc.).
  • Review and collaborate on designs and drawings with a multi‑disciplinary team of engineers, subcontractors, project managers, and construction managers, ensuring compliance with industry standards and regulations.
  • Provide technical guidance to drafters, designers, and construction personnel.
  • Must be able to make timely decisions on engineering ethics, costs, procedures, and standards that will stand and not affect future requirements.
Qualifications
  • This position requires an Alaska Professional Engineering License in Civil Engineering or a Professional Structural Engineer License and a BS Degree in Civil/Structural Engineering from an accredited university.
  • Geotechnical investigation experience with excavations and construction in frozen soils is preferred.
  • Must be able to redline drawings and be familiar with AutoCAD drafting procedures.
  • Experience with spreadsheets, word processing, AutoCAD, Bluebeam and standard office software (MS Excel, Word, Project, Teams, and Outlook).
  • Foundation design experience in permafrost, rock, and conventional soils using piles, rock anchors, and concrete pads.
  • Design experience using steel, aluminum, wood, and concrete materials.
  • Must be knowledgeable of standard construction practices and National Building Code standards.
  • Minimum of 2 years of design experience after PE in Civil/Structural engineering.
  • Must possess a valid driver’s license.
Requirements
  • Applicants must be legally authorized to work in the United States.
  • This position is open only to candidates who currently reside in Alaska due to business and employment compliance requirements.

Salary: $120,000 per year
