ATTENTION ALL APPLICANTS! The Department of Transportation and Public Facilities (DOT&PF), Southcoast Region Design & Engineering Services is looking for an Engineering Assistant 1/2/3 Flex position located in Juneau to help us Keep Alaska Moving.

Salary

Engineering Assistant 1 – $34.42 per hour (OT Eligible)

Engineering Assistant 2 – $39.67 per hour (OT Eligible)

Engineering Assistant 3 – $45.35 per hour (OT Eligible)

What you will be doing

Engineering Assistant 1: You will perform entry/trainee-level engineering design of highways and airports on federally funded projects under the general direction of a registered professional engineer. Typical design elements include both new construction and rehabilitation of existing items such as storm drain systems, curb and gutter, sidewalks, street lighting systems, traffic signal systems, navigation aids, roadways, runways, taxiways, aprons, signage, and guardrail.

Work includes assisting with the preparation of engineering studies, development of various details and portions of projects and assisting with the preparation of contract documents (engineering calculations, plans, specifications and estimates).

Engineering Assistant 2: You will perform mid-level engineering design of highways and airports on federally funded projects under the general direction of a registered professional engineer. Work includes assisting in the research, development and final production of project plans, specifications, estimates and other engineering documents.

Engineering Assistant 3: You will lead the engineering design of highways and airports on federally funded projects under the general direction of a registered professional engineer. Work includes developing initial concept-level designs, vetting concept designs with the public and resource agencies for input, and producing construction-ready project plans, specifications, quantities, estimates, and engineering documents. This position is typically the lead designer on projects with low to mid-level complexity and may assist as a specialist on complex projects.
