Position: Engineering Assistant 1/2/3 (PCN 252398) Juneau

The Department of Transportation and Public Facilities (DOT&PF), Southcoast Region Design & Engineering Services is looking for an Engineering Assistant 1/2/3 Flex position located in Juneau to help us Keep Alaska Moving!

Base Salary Information:
  • Engineering Assistant 1 – $34.42/hour (OT Eligible)
  • Engineering Assistant 2 – $39.67/hour (OT Eligible)
  • Engineering Assistant 3 – $45.35/hour (OT Eligible)
What you will be doing:

Engineering Assistant 1: Under the direct and often detailed supervision of the Reconnaissance Engineer or a higher level engineer/engineering assistant, perform entry/trainee level engineering tasks for capital improvement projects & field reconnaissance data acquisition. Work includes assisting in the development of preliminary reconnaissance work for road/airport/marine projects – including work in the field to acquire preliminary condition data. Work also includes development and final production of project plans, specifications, estimates and other engineering documents.

Engineering Assistant 2: Under the supervision of the Reconnaissance Engineer or a higher level engineer/engineering assistant, perform design engineering duties for capital improvement projects & field reconnaissance data acquisition. Work includes assisting in the development of preliminary reconnaissance work for road/airport/marine projects – including work in the field to acquire preliminary condition data. Work also includes development and final production of project plans, specifications, estimates and other engineering documents.

Engineering Assistant 3: Under the general direction of the Reconnaissance Engineer or a registered professional engineer, perform preliminary engineering & field reconnaissance as well as journey level design engineering duties for capital improvement projects. Work includes assisting in the development of preliminary reconnaissance work for road/airport/marine projects – including work in the field to acquire preliminary condition data. Work also includes research, development, and final production of project plans, specifications, estimates, and other engineering documents.

Typically this position is able to independently perform field reconnaissance work, and is the lead for mid-level projects and assists higher level engineers with more complex projects.
